Happy 4th of July! Happy 250th Anniversary of our great country!
The Fourth of July, also known as Independence Day, commemorates the approval of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, which formally announced that the thirteen American colonies were no longer subject to British rule and were now united, free, and independent states. Although the vote for independence actually occurred on July 2, the final wording of the Declaration was approved two days later, making July 4 the symbolic date of American independence and the birth of our Constitutional Republic!
I’m excited for the fireworks, parades, concerts, barbecues, picnics, and family gatherings. What a great time to display our national flag and wear red, white, and blue to show our patriotism!
The 4th of July represents not only the birth of the United States as an independent nation but also the enduring values of liberty, democracy, and self-determination. It is a day for us all to reflect on our history, celebrate national identity, and honor the sacrifices of the Founding Fathers and early patriots who fought for independence.
