Closet Cleanup!

If you are anything like me, the prospect of "attacking" your closet can be overwhelming.   I know there are items in there that I may not have seen in a decade (that maybe I will need some day... if I remembered I had them that is is... )    So, time to clean up and clean out!

A little goes a long way

Purge a little at a time.   It doesn't have to be an all day endeavor!  Fill one Goodwill donation bag at a time (getting a bag or two out can be very satisfying!)

If it doesn’t fit, you can’t wear it

It truly doesn't make sense to keep clothing that doesn't fit.   I keep telling myself that I'm going to fit back into that dress... from 1992... yeah, not likely.   It's not that I'm giving up- I just realize that even if one day I can fit into it... I won't want to!   That occasion will merit a NEW dress.

New season = new chances

When the weather warms up or cools down, it’s a great opportunity to think about what you’ve worn — and what you haven’t.    If you didn't wear it this Summer (or last Summer, or the Summer before) you aren't going to wear it next Summer.   Say good by and put it in the bag.

Use the “plus one, minus one” method

Fabulous new pants? Great! But only put them in the closet after removing a pair that’s collecting dust.  Hint:  if it's set there long enough to have a layer of dust, it needs to go, even if you don't have anew item to replace it!

Finally, donate!

Think of how much you can keep out of the landfill by gifting your giveaways to a good cause... don't worry that it's not good enough or no one will want it... there are so many people in need, especially now.  Many donations are tax deductible as well.

Happy cleaning!
